The heart of the Kasunga Foundation beats for innocent children growing up under no care but that of their incarcerated mothers, cut off even from simple basic needs enjoyed by their friends growing in normal home settings. Kasunga Foundation has therefore emerged out of the need to comprehensively and sustainably address the welfare of incarcerated mothers raising children in prison.
In order to Achieve our mission and vision we provide the following services:
- Seeing that children have access to better health and education despite their mothers being in prison.
- Ensuring that children's wellbeing - physically, mentally and emotionally is taken care of both in and outside the prison
- Empowering mothers with survival skills that can help them sustain themselves even when they are out of prison
- Reaching out and render necessary support to those children under the care of disadvantaged family members, while their mothers are still serving various sentences in prison
- Identifying talent in children that could potentially be the way to their greatness in life, nature and grow such talent while still encouraging them to pursue their education with all seriousness.
- Providing mothers with education in hygiene.
- Helping children engage in recreational activities such as sports and art by providing them with necessary facilities and materials.
